Scene Struck

As part of our Industrial Media Assignment, we analysed the scene from 2010 Film Nostalgic For the Light by Patriccia Guzmann, The mere task completion was a delight and I was completely scene struck by it!

The film maker’s passion for astronomy and memories of the past is evident and very extraordinary!
Visual effects are very intriguing. The specially composed background music is so impactful that it just carries you along with itself into the journey of space. The Camera movement and visual used in the film give a real feel of the space as if I was actually there. Given such a real feel of the visuals, I also got the impression that the film maker has shot the film from space!!
He has used a stunning effect of chosen visuals, sound and voice over are such that I travelled along into time with him, the narrator.
At every moment there is a feeling that the thematic parallel of astronomy and secrets of the past are very well represented in every shot with visual, music and appropriate minimal voice over. Interestingly, the focus of the theme is maintained in every interaction which I as the audience had with the film.
The visual representation of the upheaval caused due to the coup is unbelievable with volatile dispersal of spatial molecules and a parallel with the Atacama desert.
To me this was a complete treat to watch and learn from it! I kept waiting for every next to happen to unveil something new to me!
